Steel Superiority
Steel is a
rather homogenous and isotropic material compared with wood and
reinforced concrete hence its resistance is greater.
Elasticity
module is 100.000(kg/cm2) in wood, 210.000 (kg/cm2)
in reinforced concrete and 2.100.000 (kg/cm2) for steel
which means it is 21 times higher than wood and 10 times higher than
reinforced concrete, therefore it slants less and necessitates less
usage of material.

Most of the preparation work takes place in workshops.

The cross section to be chosen to support equal load is far smaller
in steel compared with that of reinforced concrete. Peripheral
dimensions of the cross section, load capacity of a given structural
column is far greater than a reinforced concrete column built for
the same purpose.

It would occupy smaller base hold space since its own dead weight is
less than reinforced concrete. Solely this characteristic may be the
preference factor of the steel material the structural frame of a
building where the foundation ground is not solid.

Reinforcements are easy; modifications can be carried out without
difficulty. This type of work is rather limited, very difficult to
implement even impossible at times for reinforced concrete.

When partly or wholly disbanding the steel support materials from an
existing structure, the separated materials can be used in another
structure or elsewhere, under different circumstances without any
loss. Should this structure is destroyed or brought down and becomes
wreckage and the steel materials can no longer be used it still has
a salvage value to it. |
